Port Whangarei Marine Centre’s Summer Season in Full Swing

With the Christmas and New Year’s break behind us, activity at the Port Whangarei Marine Centre is all go. The yard offers a full service marine refit and repair service to a wide range of domestic and foreign vessels utilising it’s 100T travel lift, extensive facilities and skilled tradesmen. With restrictions at the boarder the number of foreign vessels in the yard are reduced but this has been offset by enhanced activity in the domestic fleet, no doubt due to Kiwis trading overseas travel for local holidays.

The New Year also marks a change in management with the retirement of Marine Centre Manager Tim Vernon. His replacement, Lee Sigley, has the challenge of not only overseeing operations at South Shipyard but is also project managing the Stage Two Upgrade which involved installing the new 560T travel lift arriving in the middle of the year.

Vessel owners are welcome to contact Lee and his team to organise their next haulout. This includes client overseas seeking to enter New Zealand who need a bona fide haulout as we can assist with the entry requirements.
