Sailing catamaran ‘Laguz’, constructed by South African yacht builders Gunboat,  is the first of these vessels to haulout at Port Whangarei Marine Centre. A Gunboat 66 design, she is described by her builders as “a pure sailing machine designed to take most of the creature comforts along for world cruising”.  Her 8.6 metre beam was easily accommodated by the marine centre’s 100 tonne travel lift. Due to her high performance hull design and construction this vessel cannot be placed directly on the hardstand and instead must be supported by custom hull cradles. Using Gunboat supplied drawings these were CNC cut and fabricated in Oceania Interiors specialised manufacturing facility.

Laguz will be in the boat yard for approximately 3 months for routine maintenance and plans to spends three seasons in the magical South Pacific.
