Port Whangarei Marine Centre Facilities Hailed as ‘Exceptional’
Vessel owners and crew on the hardstand at the new Port Whangarei Marine Centre are very complimentary about the facilities available at the boat yard particularly for “live-aboard” yachtsmen and yachtswomen. Located at Oceania Marine‘s South Shipyard, Port Whangarei, New Zealand it is a convenient stop-over when crossing the Pacific. The 4 hectare site has extensive sealed hardstand, which gives a clean and easier working environment, serviced by a 100T travel lift. The travel lift can accommodate beam widths of up to 10 metres making the Marine Centre a popular destination for catamarans and multi-hulls.
But it’s the new yacht club, ablution blocks and laundry facilities that provide real comfort for resident vessel owners and crew. Port Whangarei Marine Centre Supervisor, Alistair McRae, has had nothing but praise from vessels for these facilities:
“It’s extraordinary really – I’ve had one instance where one of our clients was already hauled out elsewhere and when they took a look at our Marine Centre they re-launched and came out at ours. All the feedback I am getting is that we are offering exceptional facilities which are greatly appreciated”.
The yard and yacht club are serviced by a fiber optic ultra fast broadband internet service which is free to clients. Satellite TV combined with internet, kitchen and lounge makes the yacht club a popular relaxation area.
